The Zulims had an amazing location for their White Christmas family get together, their Steamboat Springs home! The house was professionally decorated by my liaison Shelley whom contacted me weeks prior for a scout of the site. We had numerous spots inside for different groupings and then headed out on the back patio for another big grouping where the snow was falling like a Hollywood set! We ended with the kids in their PJ's by the presents around the tree. Knowing this ahead of time they wrapped all of their presents in boxes so they could put them back together just for the photo shoot. Nice!

Ziegler Family Portrait | Steamboat Springs Portrait Photographer
The Zieglers couldn't have planned a more perfect time for their Fall foliage visit to Steamboat Springs Colorado. They had the time to hit a few spots, so we started down near Howelsen Hill for some diffused backlit goodness. Then it was off to the Yampa river right next to the Bud Werner Library for some rocks and strong rim lighting. I had scouted our last spot two days prior (shooting landscapes) and knew it was prime for the taking, so we made our way to Buffalo Pass. The six boys were all amazing to work with, but their mother (Tina) is one awesome lady!

Lindsey family portrait | Steamboat Springs Portrait Photography
The Lindseys were very fun to shoot with, after all Heidi started working with me the summer before as an assistant and second shooter for my weddings and had a little behind the scenes knowledge for being photographed. As for the guys, it only took about fifteen minutes to relax and really have fun with the whole process. And process it is. Sometimes people can think too much about being photographed when it should really be about enjoying each other in a scenic scenario with a happy stranger and his camera. We chose the classic "Steamboat Barn" with it's great later day light and scenic back drop of the ski area.

Ciera and Jared's Wedding | Steamboat Springs Wedding Photographer
Ciera and Jared had a very intimate celebration at a time when it can be raining, snowing or downright pleasant at 7,260 feet. This was May in the rocky mountains, welcome to Clark Colorado. Fortunately they were cowboy types from North Dakota and could handle anything Colorado had to throw their way. They were young and in love and that was what mattered most right now. There was some snow and then rain but just before the ceremony down along the Elk river, the sun decided to help out for a bit. After the ceremony it was just the three of us to make some life lasting images in a beautiful Colorado landscape. Thanks guys!

Britt and Adam | Steamboat Springs Engagement Photography
Brittany and Adam both grew up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado but never dated in high school. It was only after graduating that they discovered their attraction for each other, so naturally I wanted to bring their individual histories together by creating their engagement photographs around a historic icon of their hometown. The Eleanor Bliss Depot Arts Center and train station has a lot of great lines, reflections and textures especially in the late day light. They were equally excited to spend some creative time exploring this iconic landmark of opportunities.

Julie and Todds Wedding at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California
As a destination wedding photographer mostly shooting in my home town of
Steamboat Springs Colorado, I was overjoyed to travel to the stunning
property of
San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara California.
I was fortunate enough to shoot Julie and Todd's Fall engagement which really started our bond that often eases up the shooting process on wedding day.
What started as a fairly large wedding slated for July in Colorado got
bumped up to an intimate (20 people) celebration over a long weekend in
late March in cool Montecito California, also home of the Santa Barbara
Mission.
My wife accompanied me out there assisting and mingling from the rehearsal dinner at Cava Friday night to the intimate, early evening affair at The Wine Cellar on the San Ysidro Ranch.
We owe all the out of state preparations to Kelly Clark Leonard of Events of the Season.
She was amazing to work with and even catered to my wife's gluten
intolerance for our meals. Thank you all at San Ysidro Ranch and Cava
Restaurant!
The soundtrack to the wedding was provided by the amazing Anthony Ybarra
