Baja San Felipe

After a year of planning and way too many Youtube videos, we chose to enter Mexico through the much less crowded Mexicali border crossing and down the Gulf of California side on Highway 5. Since the drive from Salt Lake to the Arizona border wasn't intended to be a sightseeing tour, I will begin our first ever "visual fiesta / Baja road trip" a mere two hours over the border in the fishing village of San Felipe.  Leaving in mid December to start our six month tour left us wondering if we were late or early to the party? A few of the RV parks weren't even open for the season yet, but we found the cheapest one available just a five minute walk from the Malecon in San Felipe. This is where we spent much of our first week settling into "la vida senchilla" (the simple life).

Turns out, many towns have these cool "letras" all with their own special paint job. They still had Christmas going strong in San Felipe.

The not so crowded Malena and Leos RV park.

With only four other rigs, we had a clear view to the ocean.

Not every town we visit has a malecon, but when they do I like to get one image of Igy for the books.

San Felipe is a fishing village which means "fish/shrimp
 tacos"!

Love the bright colors of Baja.

Sunrise a la camp.

What's better than buying tacos at the beach........?

Making your own. Cool fact, many beach RV parks are frequented daily with vendors selling fish, vegetables, fruits and gringo items, but the best are the "catch of the day" options.
